Having cleared away all mud and rubbish encased on my chassis mounted fuel filter I found the metal cover hanging off and the filter manifold rotted... I'm debating on having some ABS plastic enclosures made with seals to replace it... I'm wondering what people's views are... am I trying to fix a non-problem?

Would be nice to unclip a cover to find a clean filter behind it each year to fit a fresh one.

Ebay item 263702778446 for example. I have heard that TD5's have a non return valve in the filter housing which can cause grief if not working. I don't know if there is one in the Puma type, and whether or not it can be used as a straight swap or if pipes will need altering, but you can investigate eh?

Yup the td5 does have NRV... I've actually got a replacement already, but I will defo look into this for future...

From feedback so far, replacing the metal cover and mount plate with a lovely smart ABS enclosure is not going down to well...

GORE make a biller Ali one same price as the OEM and a lovely bit of kit.

I would think an ABS one would be too weak

Hi
I've seen the gore housing / manifold very nice quality..

I think I may not be explaining myself well.. it's not the filters piping manifold / head... im thinking about an enclosure to replace the metal cover that goes over the filter assembly.... could do an ABS or steel enclosure.... fully sealed but with quick release cover to acces the filter cartride.

Ahhh in that case you dont need it. My 90 never had one and that was taken hard off road. Never an issue.

The 110 has one but only as it came with one
