You need to use your VIN number in a site like Paddock Spares or LRDirect (other sites are available) Look for part numbers on Paddocks that end with a G (indicates OEM spec). I think LRDirect say if a part is OEM spec or otherwise. I think some online shops are still selling limited parts. Your local Indie will be able to quote you for G code/OEM spec parts.

From your profile your 10mins away from Dingocroft? They’ll give you the choices, anything with a ‘G’ suffix should be genuine. What’s wrong with your old callipers?
 
The cheapies are actually quite good.
Ask to compare a cheapie to a named brand one, be interesting to see what or if there are any differences?
 
I have had a pair of bearmach cheapies on the front for about 3 years, work perfectly fine tbh

Britpart fronts on my D3 for 6 yrs now

Bripart rears on my 90, though these did replace the previous britpart one that only lasted 5/6 years, not calpers fault, intirely my fault as simply did not use the car hardly at all for then 5/6 years, and they got sticky but at 50 quid a pair who cares.

Dont get me wrong lots of britpart stuff is proper low rent, and I have had issues with some of their gear, but the brake stuff seems okay so far!
 
Just put Britpart Calipers on my 110 project all round, at that price too cheap not.

Would buy 2 sets for the price of OEM fitted well too
 
I would agree with the above, get a set of cheap calipers, spend the difference in price on a set of stainless pistons and couple of sets of OEM seals and swap the pistons over before fitting and they will then last forever. All you are actually using from the cheap ones are the castings. all of the critical parts that may be inferior quality have been replaced by swapping over the pistons and seals. You could also do the same thing with a second hand set and that may be cheaper again but would require more work for cleaning up.
 
Fitted BP callipers to the F&R of my old 90 and they were fine, no fitting issues and several years later they were still operating perfectly when the axles were sold on.
As already stated, lack of use will ruin even genuine callipers (corroded pistons, failed seals, seized bleed-nipples, damp fluid causing internal corrosion etc).
 
Come to think of it I put BP callipers on the back of mine when I rebuilt it. Seems like yesterday, but that was six years ago now :eek: They've been fine.
 
I'm there too. AP or BritPart/Bearmach. The price difference is huge, (about £130 v £50 a calliper) - can there be that much of a difference ?

This OEM gear seems to have turned in to a bit of a racket, a lot of unknown makes claiming to be OEM
My reason for this post was you may of all said get genuine, as the cheapos are art worth fitting

Thing with OEM is I believe that as long as the company have made some sort of equipment for the vehicle they can claim to be OEM, even though they may never have manufactured the part in question!

no, I have been pleasantly surprised with my bearmach cheapies - I was expecting to replace them after a few years but they are lasting well. If and when they fail I will buy the same thing again and just refurbish the existing ones myself
