It's not broken!

I'm looking for a fuel filler cap for my 1985 Defender, the large diameter two lug type. Anyone have one hanging around?

Paddocks seem to have them as well, but being a tight bugger I thought I'd look for a used one.

I had to buy one the other week.

I was in a rush at the petrol station at 3am in the morning and left it on the sodding tyre as I drove off... (needless to say it wasn't on the tyre afterward....)

I was wondering why the fuel level was dropping so quick, it was because it was sloshing out all over the roads!

I picked one up for a tenner off ebay. Theres a few on there at the minute.

I did the same thing. Left it on top of the tyre (when I usually leave it on the floor so I don't forget it), drove off and wondered what the lump was as I drove off. It's gone an interesting triangular shape.
I'll keep an eye on ebay, only had one on there when I looked, slightly more expensive than Paddocks.

I got a new one from Paddocks last week. Mine was not venting at all so there was either pressure or vacuum in the fuel tank, forcing fuel out of the spill back pipes.

Anyway back to the point, the cap fits fine and works fine, I think it was approx £8, but then there may be post, if you don't have enough ordered to get free postage.

The problem is the one I need is NRC9572. Non locking, two lug, large diameter. The Paddock on is Britpart,( not a deal killer but still....), and is £38.77. I still might have to bite the bullet, but will try a few scrap yards first. Thanks for the contributions guys.

I used to have that type on mine and the steel filler tube under it was rusted bad. I got another tube from a breaker but it was a 200tdi so I had to buy the later cap .
So an option is to get a later tube from somewhere and fit the later posher lockable cap?
I've got a good later cap with keys you can have for nowt for showing my Doris a good time up that lane.:eek::D

And she promised not to tell:D
Thanks for the offer, one definite option.

I wonder if they are the same as series ones? They look similar from memory.
More of them about second hand than early 90/110.

Too right, if I'd had one I would have sent it for free, surely this is the whole point of LZ? When I needed a simple part @aaronmorris kindly squared me away, share the love :)

LZ is the only place I've ever been haggled down on the price when trying to BUY something!
