When I switch off my 2010 puma defender 90 there is a clunking noise. I'm told it is the EGR valve. Is this normal . Can I get rid of the noise. Thanks

most defenders make some kind of clunking or shuddering noise when you switch them off. you say the EGR valve but do you know specifically where it's coming from?

If you do mostly short journeys or low speed driving it could be the EGR valve. The Puma has a self regenerating DP filter but it needs a good run at 50+mph for 20+ minutes. And it doesn't like it if you don't complete the regeneration cycle. Mine does not clunk, I would describe it as a belch, when it does that I know it needs a good long run.

my 110 puma did the same thing ,the sound was like a sucking chugging noise when i turned off the ignition,i got the egr valve replaced and the noise has stopped

As said, anything fitted with a particle filter needs to be run at higher speeds now and again to burn off the particles gathered at low speed that can clog it. You really do not want a clogged particle filter it can cost a fortune to replace and damage your engine.
