Got a bit of an issue.. maybe.

Been phoning round for service pricing my TD5, or so I thought.
It says TD5 on the body, and the engine cover says TD5 on it, but one of the garages said "No sir, that registration is for a SWTDI"

Sure enough, thats what it says on the log book.

Now its a 1999 vehicle, So I'm thinking that it IS actually a TD5, but that the naming on the DVLA system doesn't count that?

Otherwise it would say 300TDI on it surely?

take a pick of the engine and put it up we will tell you straight away if its a 300 or td5
personaly a 99 should be a td5 but land rover could have soled of the remaining 300 that year

300TDI remained as a special order for a few years after the TD5 was introduced IIRC.

this is a TD5 engine:

And this is a 300TDi:

Pretty easy to tell apart.

If it says TD5 on the plastic engine cover, it will almost certainly be a TD5. I can't see how anyone could or would want to fit a TD5 engine cover on a 300TDI.
