Ive used both google, and the search tool at length, but companies come and go, and their products change etc. so im wondering what my current options are, and the pros and cons of each?

I really think my current doors are probably beyond it - there's very little of them that isnt knackered, so, costly as it is, im considering a new set.

Here are the options ive found -

Paddocks (i assume bearmach?) -
http://www.paddockspares.com/defender-second-row-door-unglazed-rh.html
£294 inc tax

SPLandrovers -
http://www.sp-4x4.com/DEFENDER_PUSH_BUTTON_FRONT_DOOR_GALVANISED_p/bfl710020-g.htm
£396 inc tax

Ashtreelandrover -
nothing on website

Breakers -
Ive got breakers offering complete doors for £450 each, which, they reckon, are nice / as new etc.

All the numbers seem a bit scary, to be honest - and, also, SP landrover's email bounces, and phone is never answered.

There must be some other suppliers / options?

I'll do you £300 per side plus VAT, and I can get them probably for tuesday (work for LR Parts dept)

Assuming you want front doors that is

I need the whole set really, but im not entirely sure what im not going to spend on, in order to spend on doors (!)

Is your price for frames, frames / skins / complete doors, with mechanisms, cards etc?

Steel / aluminium? I dont know if any of the off-the-shelf landrover ones have galv frames?

I've put an after-market door on before, about 9 yrs ago, had it professionally painted etc and it didn't last long. I wouldn't put another door on without doing something too it. At the start of my rebuild, 20 months ago , I bought three new after-market doors, took the skins off and got them plastic coated (the frames). Seemed like a great idea at the time as my mind was just focussing on a barrier between the steel and the aluminium. We've all gone galvanising crazy now and I wish I had been more up to speed at the time and done that. The plastic coating wasn't expensive, but galvanising isn't expensive either. It'll be a bit cheaper buying, taking the skin off and galving yourself I reckon, but a bit more hassle. I would think the LR ones for £300+VAT will be the basic door

Is it right that new LR door frames are galvanised?

Havent seen any in ages so couldnt tell you, people rarely come to main dealers/retailers are people think we are more expesive where as more often than not we can match prices if not do better

Latest spec doors are zintec steel I think. And a single pressed design frame rather than the welded box-section of old. Plus steel skins of course.

Far superior door in almost every way, and with all new doors costing a pretty penny I would just bite the bullet and get a set of new genuine ones. Fill them with cavity wax and they'll outlast the rest of the vehicle.

LR online defender door 94-05 start at £266+vat. I desperately need drivers side door. I'm sure I'm having a 'moment' but is the difference between pre & post 2005 doors down to fitment/sizes etc ??
Can't find any discount codes (they had a 10% off at Xmas) at mo. If it's post 2005 door then johnnyb offer is v.good.

Johnnyb- any worker discounts for the 94-05 doors ?

My 110 is a 2005 and all the doors are perfect.
It's lived outside and has done 70,000 miles. So they can last if looked after. They don't seem to have any extra rust proofing inside either.
I assume it's down to washing the salt off regularly in Winter.

Thanks.

I'd also like to know the difference between the new -05 doors, and then the from 05 ones.

Anyone know for sure what the differences are? If I'm thinking of buying new, it would be good to know.

Post 05 have rounded tops which denote that they are all steel. Pre 05 are the original land rover design aluminium and steel. Post 05 are far far superior and will last far longer.

Fitted to defenders from 2005 on a 55 plate here in England.
