Hi,
I have been having an ongoing issue with my Defender 200tdi. The steering feels very vague, and does not want to stay in a straight line. I believe I may have found the fault, but have no idea why its got it.
I believe the Castor angle on the front axle is wrong, as the angle of the differential is more than that of the front propshaft. Ive got standard front springs. However, the previous owner told me it had a Wolf front axle, something I can't prove as their are no axle numbers. Could this Castor issue be caused by this or is more likely someone's fitted the wrong radius arms, and if so how do I tell?
Thanks for any advice

Vague steering is a concept of Land Rovers pre turning into sissy mobiles.

What radius arms have you gotten?

Why did they "fit” a wolf axle? Is it 24 spline? Is it metric or imperial? That's your watermark on a 1992 banger.

Hi,
Thanks for replying.
The previous owner never said why it had a Wolf axle on it, not sure they fitted it.
I haven't got time to check the splines at the moment, but I believe its a metric axle.
The Radius arms are the ones it came with, they look fairly standard, but I dont know how to tell if they are correct. They appear to have RRC 1189 as a casting number.
I've attached a few photos of the axle showing the angle the Diff is at, but not sure of how much use they'll be.
Thanks
