Whre is the best place to buy these. The prices I have seen are very expensive. £200 am I better trying to find them second hand somewhere. I have not taken them off I just really need the drivers side rear corner under the window but £80 FOR THAT.i going to be going to that defender jam in largs scotland never been to something like that before would I be better waiting and buy there??

Thanks andy

Yes a series corner will fit. Defender ones are welded to the long side section but on series the were not so when I did mine I did not bother.
Try GDI products Birmingham.

Thank for that did not know that. It a 90 1989 the corners seem to be separate not part of the long bit I guess they used series one then on the early cars?

series ones are galvanised so will last pretty much forever, great move by LR to paint them instead to save a couple of pennies.......

I recon rust separated them. They do seem to corrode more at the weld. Only the very early 90/ 110's had galvanized capping's
Series 109 side rails can be cut down to fit a 90.

If your existing capping is in good condition then just have that galvanised, much cheaper.
These are mine prior to being treated, needless to say that when they were recieved back they were beautifully done and to this day (10-years later) still look great.
Cost at the time was about £40 (inc VAT) and included many more parts inc swingaway carrier, bumper, tailgate liner, bumperettes etc.

I have just had mine blasted and powder coated which cost £50. The only down side is that where the metal has pitted with the rust you can see it through the powder coat. Still I know they will be good for the next few years.

I would second the fitting series parts, better quality metal and already galvanised. I have a 110 though so they are the same size and the 109 cappings. Either modify series to fit, or get a decent second hand set and get them galved before fitting. I would bother fitting anything that was not galved!
