hi I’ve just got a defender 90 1996 300tdi, still getting used to the noise etc but although it just passed an mot the brake pedal seems hard .the brakes do work but it takes some effort. A new Wabco vac pump has been fitted ( its still shiney ) I will check the pipes and fittings etc is most likely to be the servo ?

Morning and welcome.

Better posting a tech question in the Fender section. However having pumped the pedal does the pedal drop when you start the engine?

Cheers

Hi thanks for your reply, I will be checking in the morning, what is the implecation of dropping or not dropping please ?

pull vac pipe away from servo and but your thumb over it whilst engines running you should feel a fair vac if not pump or leak in pipe work

That’s my sort of test ,will give it a try if it ever stops raining as the new garage is only half built ! Thanks
