Hey all, This has been moidering my head for a good few weeks now, and I can't seem to find anything on it

Basically my dad has a 1984 90 CSW and wants to replace his front calipers because he has just put a disco rear axle on it and wants similar stopping all round. Are the calipers on a 1984 90 the same as a 200tdi defender, my dad has checked and apparently my calipers (1992 Defender 90) are much bigger. The main reason I'm asking is that on all the Land Rovers dealer sites, the calipers seem to be only available as a genuine part and are very hard to find and are 4x the price of the Defender ones. Has anybody fitted Defender brakes to an early 90?

Thanks in advance

basicaly all the disco rrc and 90 calipers are all the same in stopping power as pistons are the same size so doesnt matter which you fit ,110 has had since the start bigger pistons and so larger caliper ,later 90s run the same as 110s

Thanks James, Top Man :D

I think he want's to rebuild these calipers now, so he's going to buy new pots, new seals and give them a paint :D

Thanks again much appreciated

Thanks for the offer, but my dads going to rebuild the current ones :) thanks anyway mate :p

the mounting holes would have been the wrong size anyhow

Just checked mine now (1992 Defender) and it has 46mm pistons, whereas my dads are 41mm, so it would make sense that the calipers are different, is it the mounting hole size that's different? Or is it the mounting position?
