Hi there,

Im a bit of a newbie so bare with me.

My 1991 defender's wipers and blower/heater have both stopped working.

The wipers seem to work when they want. The top low speed setting works all the time and the high speed setting works sometimes and sometimes only once the wipers have been put on to low speed. Intermittent rarely works and when it does it wipes about 5x before stopping. Any ideas on why this is happening? I replaced the park switch not long ago so i assume its not that.

The blower does not blow any air out. Before it stopped cold air only came out and now nothing. I ve looked around and it could be the fuse so im going to replace that this weekend, but if that doesnt solve it what could it be?

Thanks very much,
Ben

me 97's wipers intermittent only works intermitantly anorl.

try a noo park switch.

Cheers redhand im getting one this week.

Ive changed the fuse on the heater now and still no joy. I also looked around and the air intake grill was blocked with mud and water. The fan was also not spinning easily and was filled with water. Where do i need to go from here? Also im thinking about taking the whole heater box out to have a look and am wondering whether i can drive without the heater unit?

Might be too simple but how heavy is the level that turns the heater on? Ive had a cable come loose and slip off, there should be quite a bit of weight to move the lever, unlikely, but possible

HI Dave90,

Its quite tough to move and ive looked moved the blower cables and works fine.

Worth a try, always start with the simple stuff :p

If the fan has had water in it and the fan has seized then it could overload the circuit and blow the fuse as soon as you use it, check the fuse you changed, if that fuse has blown it could be seized
