This might help you. Don't buy your Alpine Windows new, I bought a pair including seals from Thornton Breakers for less than 1/3 the price of new ones. Obviously they're removed from Defenders due for breaking.
That's what I did and bought a £15 paper template from Ebay. Makes the job that much easier

You don't want to be cutting more holes in the roof. they leak enough as it is!
