Reverse gear is only sticky when cold and takes a few attempts to engage gear. What causes this and what's the fix.

To be honest I'm not sure. It's a 2003 td5.
reverse gear top left or bottom right?

Rear diff oil Is usual when its playing up in reverse only

Sorry if I'm being thick, but could you expand on that? Are you meaning refill the gearbox with the same oil as you would use in the diff??

Ah, right. It never crossed my mind that the rear diff oil would have any effect on the selection of reverse. I have much to learn Obi-wan.

or mine ,rev gear dog teeth are prone to wear most boxes i strip have to have rev gear replaced because of,oil change whilst not a cure can help

If you have an LSD then bad diff oil will show first in reverse its the easiest and cheapest 1st thing to try

still cant see how that effects selection ,d2 dont have lsd rear diffs,unless you fit one
