I am considering a project with a land rover 90.The donor vehicle is a range rover classic. Are the suspension parts and steering parts a perfect fit or adjustments have to be made?
The engine the range rover classic carry is a v8 automatic.Could i keep the transmission and mate it to a diesel engine and which engine you guys recommend.

Yeah the RR classic share most parts they are direct replacement. But why would you want a auto?

What are your plans for use?

Well with limited resource in terms of parts here i dont have much of an option and the donor vehicle is auto. Also its my first rover project. The other project will be turning my defender td5 panel van into a double cab defender.I looked at the possibility and it seems feasible once i get my self a 110 station wagon body from behind the driver seat or a pick body. But this 90 project will boost my confidence to take on another one.

a v8 auto will not fit o a tdi engine. All the running gear is the same. go v8auto in the 90...there great

I have been looking at the launch of the new land rover defender concept and following up the comments of lovers of the defender and critics.
I think rover should be very careful on how far they stray from the original defender(take ah page from jeep with the rubicon) also i do not favour the independant suspension.Rover have all the answers to their problems and market share lost.Let me give some hints.

Solve leaky engines and gear boxes(the japs perfected this)
Rusted door panels and firewalls should be a thing of the past
smoother easier closing doors(take ah page of the jeep rubicon)
device better leg room within the 110 and 90 wheel base.
More integrated roll bars direct to the chassis better safety ah rover exclaim is an issue.
improve cooling and heating system into ah simple rugged dash board and reduce engine and road noise for a little more comfort as expressed by defender lovers and critics.
Chassis rusting issuse should be a thing of the past. The japs and americans almost perfected this.

The upside to the defender
Great superior transfer case
great seating stanse
great ride height
rough tough appeal
easy to repair panels(great for purpose built)
great articulation

Also rover should of continue with their project to build ah line of engines as experimented with the td5 i think its ah great concept and rover should of built on the td5 weakness.
They should also offer a varient in cc ratings in the td5 range.
I think we al here love rovers especially defenders and be at rover to build us a superior serious offroader and utility defender to the americans and japs.Dam alot said!!
