Hi all
I've just replaced the nearside top & bottom swivels on my 90 but I still have play at 6 o'clock position...there's no play at 3 to 9 position so I don't think its wheel bearings...does the bottom swivel pin actually wear?
TIA
Steve

Have you checked the bearings ?

When were they changed / repacked last ? Are they Timken bearings ?

Do you have spacers in the top pin? If so removing several should tighten it
Hi steve24v
Thanks for that...its 1st time I've ever done these & was focusing more on getting preloaded right...I guess its a bit of a juggling act

Hi Dippypud
I had it all apart & have repacked bearings...didn't think to look at brand but will now have a look as I'll have it all apart again to solve problem

I think you are supposed to use a measuring tool to set the preload (ages ago when I did it) I just did it by feel. Got it tight then added the shims until there was no binding or any slack. Pain in ar5e having to keep undoing the top pin

Some times they just wear out, speshully if you go through deepish water and they don't dry well, if you get them wet regular, repack regular too ...
