I am not going to ask for advice regarding locating the alarm, but...

I bought one off eBay with central locking, looked on here and elsewhere and a few people recommended it - a kit by Hawk.

Thing is, I am struggling to locate the alarm almost anywhere, the instructions say some of the wires shouldn't be extended, wherever I try to put it something doesn't reach or work. It states they are not to be fitted under a seat, which would have been the easiest place, I think, cannot be mounted in the engine bay.

I'm not asking people's locations of any alarm they have fitted (although a PM would be appreciated) but can most of the wires be safely extended, and there is just a few which can't? Or is it literally, make it fit in one special location?

How does the alarm work? Sounds like door switches rather that an internal sensor.

Which wire's don't reach?

I've half fitted mine so far, not tested it all bit I'm fairly confident all my wires will reach.

To expand a bit.

The wires that need fitting as I can remember are:

Door sensors - this is a single wire - it's the negative polarity one you want, this can go to the back of the light switch to the right of the steering wheel - I multimeter tested opening either door and both go to ground there.

Interior light (so it runs on when unlocked I guess, should be able to tap into the light switch I explained above

Foot brake - I'm not going to wire this in just yet. Not sure why it needs connecting, unless it's to set alarm off....but I have door sensors and the motion sensors.

Indicators - I expect to be able to wire this into either the indicator stalk or the hazard warning switch.

Power / ground, you can get most places.

Other stuff such as siren, you just need to make sure where you want to put it it can reach - i'd expect this to be safe to extend.
