Finaly got round to taking the front axle off what is left of the chassis. Not a job i was looking forward to as the bolts were all rusty and the wee bolts that hold the seal in place around the swivel looked realy bad. To my surprise they all came out except one and i have left it with penatrating fluid in the hope i can get it out tommorow. Weather has been poor today with rain so no pics.

Can any one recomend a supply for decent quality swivel kits apart from Land Rover? (to dear)

yes just remove flange 30mm socket lever out old seal and replace grease rear of seal to hold garter swpring in while tapping home seal, you will feel when its in far enough ,after fitting flange put some silicone sealant around shaft and flange before fitting washer and nut

Old seal out and new seal fitted.
To fit the seal i used a piece of three inch drain pipe approx four inches long cut square at the ends and a bit of wood over the end to hit it with the hammer. Went in with out a hitch.

Not a great deal been happining over the last weeks due to weather and work. I have managed to replace one swivel and seal but require some more bolts to replace the other side. On Saterday i went up to Gemm at Larbert to remove a tub from the chassis. It is in not to bad nick apart from needing a paint so will pick it up through the week.
I have decided to leave the body work till next year as time is running out before the weather changes. A lot of work should get done in the next couple of weeks including fitting the front axel, all brake pipes, refit the a frame at the back once i get the new bushes pushed in and hopefully get the new/second hand tub fitted. Will post some new pics next week.

I knew it was u/s touched it with the wire wheel and the spring popped out. Was just looking for a new one but was unsure what to call it. Years ago I used to tap the same part on mini's and insert a bolt with a small piece of bar welded to it rather like a wing nut so i could adjust the back forward bias. Thanks for the info. Just for referance here are another couple of photos.

I had a lorry battery in mine but was only one!
And yes it was a tight squeeze.
