I have a 1992 landrover defender 200tdi the problem is when i first start it up and drive it when its cold the turbo doesnt seem to be boosting but after about 2 mins of driving it seems to start to boost and pulls very good.

Is this normal and just because the turbo is cold or is it a sign of the turbo being on its way out

Has anyone told ye it's not a car? If ye try and boot it from cold, chances are ye're goin' tae knacker summit up!

I dont jump in it when its cold and boot it I know not do that.

The reason i think its not boosting is because I live on a hill and it struggles to get up it in 2nd gear and just has no power and I cannot hear the turbo. But if I drive it for 5 mins and then drive up the hill I can do it in 3rd gear no problem and can hear the turbo working

Can't hear the turbo in my 91 200tdi but ah can see the guage workin'. If ye're hearin' a whistle or simillar, then check yer turbo hoses for splits or collapsing;)
