Hi,

I have defender 90 300tdi and its making some funny vibrating noises when I drive up to 35mph and let off the throttle, the noise dose not happen on the way up to 35mph and I'm pretty confident its nothing mechanical. Has anyone had a similar problem its really annoying. Help!!

Had same problem mate mine was the rear propshaft. the 4 nuts were all loose tightend up and she was good as new but now i got to do the ujs :D have a check sounds same as what i had but check both props

hi cheers for the replys ill try putmping her with grease might even try taking one shaft off at atime and going for a drive. ill update you on my findings on the next cou.ple of days

Hi just tried pumping the joints full of grease and the noise is still there. Will take off front prop and go for a drive tomorrow night.

Hi taken front prop off and went for a drive and no vibrations :) so going to change ujs over the weekend. Cheers for all the help guys.

Yoh Oliver, I have had exactly the same happen on my Defender 130.
Ive been reading your posts- so i'm gonna try same fault finding fault as you...
Wish me luck!

Just had a sneeky feel (sounds wrong!) of the propshafts. UJ's seem ok, although there does seem excessive movement of the front shaft.
Thinking about it, I did deflate the front tyres to 28psi for an easier ride, i wonder if this has caused it?

28psi on normal sized tyre is shirley ok?
my disco drives a lot better with the fronts @ 28psi,
and the wheels dont "bounce" over potholes so much,
but I have noticed more wear on the outer tread ??

Turned out to be forward UJ on front prop. So i replaced both those suckers!!
Re: tire pressure. Yeah i agree easye1, get 'em reduced to save on dental work!
