Hi so thought I'd put a thread up as this is my 1st Land Rover I've ever Had and looking for some advice brought it last week as a bit of a project to turn into a off road toy but the disco 200tdi conversion has not been done very well at all and there are some rust holes on the bulkhead,

I've been repairing some of this over the past few days with help from my friend plans are to repair the bulk head, new floor pans , fit lift kit , off road wheels and tyres , sort the boost pipe location buy Turing the turbo outlet upwards to stop
It rubbing on the inner wheel arch fit a snorkel kit and redo the pas pipes as they have been bodged beyond belief I'll put pics up as we go fell free to add some advice

Looks to be a very nice project. Chassis we can see looks ok. Should turn out to be a very nice defender. Watch the alternator wiring and the exhaust, mine touched and completely burnt out. Footwells actually look pretty good compared to the bulkhead rust.
 
Bulkhead looks fooked, repairable, but fooked in the tricky places; turbo to intercooler pipe is buggered - you can 'clock' the turbo round, as you've said, Steve Parker makes a good silicone kit that seems to fit well as an alternative; PAS pipe looks odd!, the viscous fan in doing pretty much nothing, so you may as well take it off to stop it fouling the pipe!

The Glencoyne engineering Web pages are full of useful info about discovery conversions. I did one last year, there are a few tips re clocking the turbo on one of my posts.
 
Thanks for the replies yeah the chassis is sold that's the main reason I brought it to be fair,
the power steering didn't work when I picked it up most probably something to do with the worst bodge I've seen the pas pop cut and joined by a piece of rubber hose with two hose clamps it don't even have a piece of metal tube to support it so might make my own pas pipes up out of Ptfe lined braided hose with an fittings is this do able ?
The turbo clocking looks pretty straight forward so Gona tackle that once I've finished the welding more pics to come later
 
Been pretty busy this past week pretty much done most of the bulkhead metal work now making a start in the foot wells which will be finished of later this week next is to paint the chassis and fit a disco rear axel with my challenge 4' lift kit
