A interesting bi product of water getting into a combustion chamber is it acts like a scouring agent, so removal of an injector or glow plug will often show by being very clean, on a petrol it’s a doddle taking out the plug just a bit more difficult on a diesel,
 
Worth a look in the pipe the runs from the cyclone breather to the air box to see if thats full of 'mayo'
 
Took the defender down to my mechanic last night. Couldn't get it to start for ages and when she did she wouldn't rev hard and idled very badly sounding like it was going to stall constantly. Can see a week bit of mayo looking substance under the oil cap aswell I think. Would presume it's a crack now as the head gasket was done 2 years and less than 5k miles ago
 
Checked crank pulley bolt tight?
Remove round plate on fromt timing cover (3 screws/bolts) and rotate crank pulley slightly each way, does the pulley in the inspection hole move instantly, or is there a delay?
