Hi all - been lurking for a few months - thanks for all the great advice & tips!.
I have the common vibration issue on my 200tdi 90. Took the front propshaft off and the UJs seemed fine - first thing I noticed was the sliding joint was at the transfer case end - Haynes says it should be other way round.
So bought a spacer to try (as I have 2" lift), and was going to fit it the 'right' way round to see if that made a difference. But the diff flange and the transfer box flange are different sizes.. is that normal? So the standard britpart spacer would only fit at the transfer end (which couldn't do as the bolts will need cutting out) and I couldn't flip it round - the sliding joint had to go at the transfer end..
Is that normal??

In what way were they the wrong size? I'm sure you noticed they're not symetrical, so to get the holes/pins to line up you have to rotate it in 90 degree steps to find the right way.

It's of course possible someone changed the axle for a disco axle and change the propshaft end to make it fit.....
 
oh heck, I was determined not to make a fool out of myself on my first post!!! Just had a look at the spacer and yep, the holes aren't symmetrical are they? That did not occur to me..

The prop shafts I've fiddled around with (which aren't many tbh) have little arrows on both half's that you have to enlign for correct assembly.

disco diff flange is the same as defender or rrc or p38
 
it makes no difference which end prop is located,some prefer slide at diff end so water cant run down it ,but at t/box end it doesnt seem to suffer in any case
