Hi,

I have lots of service history but none for a cambelt change, she now has 92k on the clock so thinking I should get it done asap. Any one know of a good garage in South Yorkshire area. Also there is a yellow mark on the cambelt housing/cover which a mate tells me they had put on after some modifications by LR.

Cheers

indeed, not sure when the full changeover happened, mines a 96, but still had the old system (now runs the new one :) )

how spanner handy are you, as the mods already been done, its a really easy job to do, just follow busters guide, took me 4 hrs including doing the pully changes.

Think landrover say 72k or 5 years, but that seems a lot of miles to me!to see if your early 300 has been modded take a look at the lower pulley, it should have shoulders on,if not it hasnt been recalled, but its doubtfull!

AFAIK they should all have been modded at the time, but many probably didnt, mine hadn't.
The newer spec has the shoulder "guides" on the toothed crank pulley, the older had guides on the Idler (IIRC) so the belt had a tendancy to slip sideways, rub and eventually give up.
mine (not dues, but done anyway) had had about 1/8-1/4" worn of the width of the belt.

The belt is the same, its the idler/tensioner thats different.
theoretically its the later one, the yellow mark on the cover should mean its had the mod.
do you use yours everyday? if not, either pop it apart and have a look, or order the later kit, and go for it, if you get there and find you have a guided idler, get the replacement crank pulley
