Is this a wind up :lol:
Vanbratsky;
Yes you will have a light on the dash that will light up, BUT as you said the previous owner claims that the engine doesn't require glow plugs ( NOT TRUE ), so it's possible the actual cable for the glow plugs isn't connected, hence no light on the dash.
However there are a number of reasons for no light, for a light that doesn't go out, and for the towing light to come on instead, all these are part n parcel of owning a Landy.
I suggest you turn the key to the prime position ( just before turn over ) and hold for 10 seconds, then crank it. If this solves your issue then great, we'll cover the next step.
If it doesn't, then we'll cover the next step again.
As for the humour, don't let it bother you, go with the flow and you'll find an awful lot of help comes your way, but try a search first ( unless like me your just lazy and treat this place like a pub and just ask whilst buying a round...)
Welcome btw
