I've starting restoring a 97 130 into a camper van chassis needs new rear cross member and maybe 6 inch of chassis that meets it other than that it's solid been wax oiled In side by the looks of it
I've thought of galvanising it but been put off by talking to people I no who work doing galvanising neither no each over but both raised same concerns like any drips when it comes out will be ground off and cold galvanised sprayed thin coat as will any rough parts
there that busy it never gets dipped long enough for a proper coat it doesn't last any were were water puddles drips and this is on brand new metel said it's worth doing if it's brand new and if you paint after
so I think I'm going to go down the blasted and powder coated route with a wax oyl inside seen plenty of chassis like new inside and out that have been wax oiled or oiled every year 20 years atb scott

You'll need to get that wax oil out before blasting/galv.
I agree with the galv guys statements.
It's a lottery galving a 2nd hand chassis.

I'm going powder coating I aren't going to bother galvanising they said it's a lottery on new on old not even worth bothering atb scott

this is it at the start atb scott

I've got a pair of new 130 chassis rear half rails which you're welcome to - they're going for scrap otherwise. Just the rails, no brackets, outriggers or crossmembers.

I'm going powder coating I aren't going to bother galvanising they said it's a lottery on new on old not even worth bothering atb scott
Really wouldn't bother getting it powder coated especially on a chassis, with powder coating the slightest scratch and water gets in, rusts forms, water spreads between coating and steel and it tends to peel of in large pieces and it's pretty much impossible to touch it up.
If you are not going galv, personally I'd rust treat prime and paint.

thanks for the offer boguing but I'm a bit far away mate I have a new rear cross member I have some plate to rebuild what's rotten but again thanks for the offer !:)

jam 1 I'll have a think mate maybe go treatment primer then stone chip then paint 2k what's your thoughts thanks atb scott

stripped the back out roof off need to make it a foot higher and replace the rot plus make a overhang at the front
