Hi,
Having a bit a electrical problem with my 01 TD5 110.

I was driving down the road about 3 days ago when the horn started blaring. I pulled over to have a look but notting i could do would stop it,

So i proceeded back on my trip horn blowing all the way.
Then i went trough a big puddle and the horn stopped but the wipers and washers started up and again notting you could do to stop it.

When i got back home i turned it on and off and the problem swtiched again back to the horn.

I checked all the fueses and i found by F3 fuses under driver seat burnt out. I replaced that but no change. Eather the horn or washer jets and wipers are going none stop.

Anyone with any ideas what it could be?

Thanks,
John.

sounds like wiring has rubbed through somewhere, round column first place to look

Does sound like problem with the supply side of the circuits. Does pressing the horn button or switching on the wipers do anything else funny?

Also switch on the lights one circuit at a time and see if any don't come on/ come on dim/ flash with the indicators or 4x flashers, as other option could be an earth fault feeding back down other circuits. Do you know what fuse F3 does as I don't have the td5 diagrams to hand?

Wel i my problem happens the min you turn the key.

But if you turn on light, flashers ect. it doesnt make a difference to the problem.

F3 was a fuse for the wheel column switchs which was gone. So i though i was on to a winner but i replaced it and didnt change anything.
It didnt blow again eather which was strange.

So it could eather be a earth problem or a short of some kind???

Sounds more like a short - would check the circuits it power up - have you had a look in the stearing column as the wires could have been rubbing on the stearing column and worn through - just a guess but as horn and wipers go through there it would be my first port of call
