Having just bought a 2005 110 CSW, I was surprised to note the absence of anti roll bars.
Our 2006 90 CSW had them, and the 110 rolls like a ship in a gale on corners.

I found an ebay seller offering a front/rear anti roll bar kit for "Defender 90/110" so ordered one.
It arrived and it's made by Britpart. However the single page instruction leaflet claims that the kit will fit "Discovery 1 and Defender 90"
The kit is fairly complex, and there is no diagram, just a few lines saying things like "fit the bolts, washers and nyloc nuts"

Anyway, I called Britpart to see if the kit will fit my 110, but the girl "did not know" and "could not put me through to technical as I was not a dealer"

I see that Craddocks are selling the same kit, although they are asking £235+VAT for it. They also list it as suitable for "Defender 90, 110, Discovery 1 and Range Rover Classic"
Rimmer Bros also list the same kit, claiming it fits "Defender 90 and Discovery 1"

Can anybody help with these two questions.

Will this kit fit my 2005 Defender 110 CSW
Is it actually any good? I mean, just to improve the Defender handling on ordinary road driving.

I will take the very brief instructions as an indication that it's pretty self explanatory when you start to fit it.

Ah well,

In the absence of any replies l fitted the front anti roll bar from the kit. The parts seemed good quality for the money, and after laying out all the bolts/washers etc it was fairly easy to determine how to assemble it. (the supplied instruction sheet is very basic)

As for the rear one, the parts in the kit do not fit the Defender 110. I emailed Britpart, as they would not
talk to me on the phone, and l received a reply saying l needed to order two clamps/bushes.
So l ordered them from Craddocks, cost a tenner plus postage.
I'll fit the rear anti roll bar when the parts turn up.

So in conclusion, the Britpart anti roll bar kit seems good quality, certainly for under £200, if your Defender has no anti roll bars at all.....it's clearly not an upgrade on standard parts.
It will fit the 90 as it comes, but to fit a 110 you need a tenners worth of extra bits.

I have a disco1 front and rear antiroll bars/links on my 110. Had to weld brackets to the chassis to fit them but they would fit if the brackets had been there.

great report was just about to order britpart kit for my 90 rebuild nice knowing it will go straight on thanx for up date :rolly:

Iv just added the rear one to my 110, was actually pleasantly surprised with the differance it made to the handling. Made it feel a bit firmer on the road

I was lucky and got the bar for free but it's made a big differance, it's just a standard bar aswell.

I have this kit too. I have fitted rear bar which was straight forward. On my 1994 110 CSW there are no clamp fittings at the front... So bar still in box with ball joints etc.

I think there must be an additional clamp set for the front too. I will investigate.

Incidentally, will anti roll bars seriously limit off road ability. I am looking for a car mainly for road use and overland trips.

I don't think they "seriously limit" off road ability.
The axle articulation may be reduced a bit, but unless you are doing extreme off road l don't think it will be an issue.

To fit the rear anti roll bar in the Britpart kit to a 110, you need to buy a few extra parts.

2 x NRC5674 (bush, anti roll bar 110)
2 x 592773 (strap bracket, anti roll bar 110)

Also (not mentioned and easy to forget) you need an extra 4 x M10 nyloc nut, M10x34 bolt, and M10 washers.
This is because the 110 strap bracket is held on with four bolts instead of two.

Fitting the rear anti roll bar to my 110 was not straightforward.

First there are four bolts to hold the brackets to the chassis, instead of two on the earlier Defender.
For some reason the inner two holes on each side are too small and need drilling out to fit the bolts.

Then the anti roll bar sits VERY close to the fuel tank metal shield, l had to flatten the lip out on the corners, and l think it will still touch on extreme axle movements, but l don't think it will do any harm.

Plus the kit was missing two washers to install the ball joint lower mounting bolts. Again no big deal, but worth knowing.

So l bought a genuine Land Rover rear anti roll bar, it only cost £75. I fitted that instead, it fits with the Britpart mountings, and it clears the fuel tank guard by about 1cm.

So it is better than the Britpart one, although that did fit.....just.

I thought l would post this, as despite the lack of responses, somebody may need to know.

So how much are we talking for anti roll bars front and rear for a 2005 double cab? Strangely mine had them fitted at some point as you could see where the old bushes and bolts had rubbed the mounts.

complete kits are less than £200

Im going to be getting a pair for my 110 csw.

Hi, I failed the mot with having excessive play in ball joint on anti roll bar on my defender 300tdi csw 110. I am looking at the defender service repair manual, and they are recommending special tool 18g 1063a (picture comes up when you google it) to release link. Not having much joy sourcing one. Is it essential or is there a top tip work around? Looking at section 64 rear suspension, page 5, service repair no 64.35.24 of manual.
This is a job you will have to do as well in the future, no doubt!
