Please help.

My Defender 110 year 2013 with 2.2 TDCI has only covered 7800 mls.
When I bought it from the UK it had approx.5600 mls.as an approved from LR.
When I drove off from dealer I did hear the clunk noise from the rear but I ignored it because I though all Landies do this, ( well 30 years back my series 2 used to do it) I drove the Landy for 2000 mls all the way from the UK to Malta
in 3 days no problem what so ever.
Recently I took the Landy in for an oil change and mechanic drew my attention to the noise, he is claiming the noise is a loose crown wheel at the diff.or perhaps something loose in the A form diff support bracket.

I am astonished about this matter, has someone had this problem or heard
somebody who experienced the same? or perhaps an advise from an expert will be much appreciated.

Thank you very much for reading.

Eric.

My 90 does it.
Iv changed everything,
A frame ball joint, bushes, trailing arm bushes both ends, rear shocks,
Rear prop shaft u/js, noise is still there
The diff feels ok, some back lash but not much.
Mine does it within a couple of feet of setting off or when it rocks on the handbrake when I apply it facing down hill.
I'm out of ideas, mine almost sounds like something metallic touching the rear floor??
If you figure it out let me know

Ahhhh didn't see that.

Surely it's a European warranty. My VW can go anywhere in Europe under the manufacturers warranty.

They all clunk from time to time. I occasionally get a clunk from a rear caliper, when doing some heavier braking. Also had a click rather than clunk when taking up drive, but this was splines on a rear driving member, that were either a poor fit or fitted with no grease.

The thing is that you hear every little noise on a Landy much amplified by the design.

Sorry for the late reply guys, I fixed it, it was the rear diff`s coupling splines
backlash, removed the coupling and did some thread lock on the spines, mounted all again after an hour drove off, noise disappeared.
