I have been looking into ways to stop thieving scumbags out there from breaking into and stealing either bits from my 110 or my 110 itself.
I have been looking for a steering wheel lock with an alarm built in but have come up with nothing so far.
But I came up with another plan as well.
As I use the wagon as a mobile shed why not get a cheap shed alarm for it?
Tesco do a ceiling mounted PIR alarm with remote activation for £19.97

Or a wall mounted PIR alarm with keypad activation also for £19.97

Anybody out there use anything like this, or steering locks, or even the foot pedal locks and have any comments or thoughts on the best things to use in the real world?

Obviously everything is kept hidden and the stereo is an old pile of pants, but there is always some little erk out there determined to steal nothing and just cause damage. The best way to stop anyone from stealing is not give them the opportunity so always keep the Landy hidden as best you can and hide your keys in your house.
No point in making it easy for the scum is there??

there's something like a hydraulic lock. A single key to operate. it actually is a plug in into the brake or clutch hydraulics.

when the key is lock, all looks well. When the brake / clutch is depressed, the oil will move and not return, so in the clutch mode, the clutch stays down and you can't drive off. in the brake mode, the brakes are applied and either way it can't be driven off.

manufacturer's advice not to plug it into the brakes for certain legisliation issues.

should be abt 300 pounds for that. can't remember where i saw it.

There are plenty of similar cheap car alarms and immobilisers on eBay. Some of them are even Thatcham approved. Considering to get one for my 110. But ideally, i also want to install window grills on all rear windows and put something like god guard at the back. Then leaving tools at the back should be ok

first thing and the cheapest way is to put a hidden switch and some wire inline with the ignition system to stop them starting it, immeadiately.
this will **** off most of em.

a visable deterrent is always a good idea too. hence the big steering wheel thingys in bright yellow.
the yobbo scum will always look for an easy target. let them target some other poor bastard.

Even a really high pitched alarm in the cab that will make them deaf, even a simple circuit with a key to disable it.

All these things help.

I am going to put a switch into my fuel shutoff this weekend. Simple but effective, its all about time.

I was also considering making a brake lock out of some inch thick steel welded up, and a big padlock for those really dodgey areas of town. Yes it could be cut, but at the end of the day, the longer it takes the better.

I have been known to fit a crook clock, pull the wire off the fuel valve, pull the wire off the starter, and put it into neutral on the transfer case, won't stop a pro or someone determined, but will take them long enough to make them think twice.
