hi just brought a 90 td5 only 5 years old with 36,000 on the clock put the light on tonight and the fuel and temp back light arnt working :eek:and also on the speedo it looks like their may be more than one bulb out at the moment the speedo looks like the faster you go the more clearly you can read the speed does any one know hoe to access behind the dash pannel to change the bulbs and does the speedo just have one bulb behind it or more

behind the instrument panel, there are four bulbs. Speedo, Fuel, Temp, and Clock. The instrument panel is removed by unscreing the screws around the edge of the panel, on the rh side, by the temp controls, on the left hand side by the vent controls, and the screws underneath the panel. I think theres also one on the top right side of the panel. Once the screws are out, the panel comes forward. dont pull it too fat, as there are obviously cables attached. The bulbs are in plastic holders which just pull out.

There are two behind the speedo and I needed a long socket to twist them out. The others just pull out.

jim, what did you use to get the bulbs out that are set back into the speedo on your td5 dash? cheers matt

You can get a tool for this, it looks a bit like a biggish radiator key. I got one from Volvo trucks - they used to be used for taking out the bulbs in the old analog tachographs. I'll try to find a link for some. Sorry, I've not been able to find them on the net so far.
