Hello all,
Can someone help me decode my engine serial number:

42D019624 It's a 4.0

This is not the original engine that came in my 1996 Range Rover 4.0 SE. I want to make sure I replace any engine parts with the correct ones.

Thanks, I really need to match a specific model and year to the engine serial number (42D019624) to replace the crank sensor. The sensor's that are available are of different quality and have magnetic tabs that vary in length. If I can determine model and year the engine was originally-in will take out any guessing.

94 on Range Rover from that list

The problem is they show different sensors for 95-01.

Rimmer brothers give a comprehensive V8 engine number list if you google it also would probably supply sensor if you contact them...

94 is a RRC , 95-01 is a p38.

Thought some of the early p38 were 1994?

I think my scrap P38 is a 94
