Thanks for the replies,

It's got a good engine, runs smooth, the bulkhead is rock solid, no signs of corrosion and the chassis is solid just as well. It will also have a full years MOT

Thanks again

what you have there is a N/A 90...not a defender....it's a bit like putting those dodgy 16v letters on the back of a robin reliant  I't been painted by a blind man on a budget... sorry to sound harsh but for the money you could pick up a turbo or even a tdi at a push ;)

Cheers!

I am trying to avoid a turbo landrover because it will bump my insurance right up (I'm 17). It seemed quick enough... and it will be my first car, so not overly bothered! I take it that tdi stands for turbo diesel injection?

Thanks again

yes and cdi stands for carburatored diesel injection and then you have tdc turbo diesel carburatored and of course the famous gti which stands fer great turbo injection

Cheers!

I am trying to avoid a turbo landrover

I would not of thought that Turbo in
the true sense of the word would
make any difference to you insurance
quote because 200tdi 300tdi the book
top speed is 93 mph but you maybe
only get 85mph with a wind behind
and down hill maybe 93 mph

The only way my old 90 would break 70 would have been to drive it over the edge of a high cliff, and even at that what with the shape, and wind resistance .....

my insurance for 300tdi is £1200 (full comp including some modifications) i am 20 with no noclaims but get a quote for disco which is worth less then it doesn't look so bad

Hi,

Thanks again, NFU will insure me as a named driver, and the quote they gace me was for under £500 3rd party. I'm impressed. I may as well see how much fully compwill be, and hopefuly I can go ahead with them.

All I'll have to worry about then is finding somone who brews biodiesel locally.

Cheers
