Alright folks?

I currently drive a Freelander 1, which I love, nae abuse please!
But I have been offered a chance at a 2002 (52) facelift Disco 2 GS with 53,000 on the clock.
I have been to look at it tonight and it seems very sound, one owner, not done many miles in the last 11 years. All lights go out, body is sound, chassis looks good, surface rust only, rubbed down and waxoyled it should be fine. Sailed its MOT last week, 2 wee advisories on brakes, nothing I cant fix easily.
What is wrong is that the rear mudflap hangers and the brackets that join onto wings are rusty, can these be cut out and replaced easily? I'm not brilliant at metalwork etc

Hope you can help, never know might be switching forums!!

Our mate @neilly has done some good work to produce a buyers guide for the Discovery 2. You can find it at:-

Regarding your question about the rear mudflaps, I can't comment, but I do remember seeing something about it somewhere on the forum.
Try using the search facility at the top right of the window. Maybe somebody else has something to add on the subject.

Those mudflap brackets do rot away and galvanised replacements are available through ebay at a reasonable cost. Fitting can be a pain as the pop rivets holding them on are generally rusted in place but you can sot out replacements with nuts & bolts etc.....

TBH if that's your main problem you'll be lucky!

Thanks for the replies lads, the rest of the wagon is sound, I'm going to make an offer on it tomorrow.
I'll let you know how I get on.....

thanks again....

If you don't buy it send me a link as I'm looking for one ;)

I bought it, now I am in the middle of ironing out the wee flaws, brakes were iffy, so I got the price knocked down a bit.
I've ordered front calipers, discs and pads.....hopefully sorting it out in the next couple of nights if the weather holds....
Two other niggles, glovebox wont shut! And the left hand rear seat in the bootspace wont fold up out of the way.....ah what fun, things to fix and play with....

Keep your eyes open, I'll be looking for help!!

Make sure you have the EKA code.
Oh well said sir...
