Squirter as in the sense of Oil Squirter, piston squirters, piston jets, oil jets etc.

Don't know how your mind took you there.

It's kind of important to use the right terminology when you are asking about part of your landrover/car and what it does/how it works. If you don't know what it's called a photo is the best and quickest way to get a meaningful reponse.

There is a lot of knowledge and helpful p[eople on here but there is also a lot of flippancy.
Using slang words/names won't attract the helpful .... just sayin.

What word did I use that is slang?

My guess is “squirter”
I can see why you would think what you did, as there is a support bracket for the brake pipe on top of the swivel pin housing. But it is a concern that you don’t recognise a brake pipe, and you are considering doing the swivel pre-load settings !!

Okay please explain how it routes to the brake caliper?????

Thank you for your help

I note you have edited your post to remove your smart comment. I would suggest if you want help on this forum you lose the attitude !!
Have you told us yet what type of LR you have ? Strangely yours looks like it indeed has some kind of pipe going into the top of the swivel in that photo. You can clearly see the pipe I was talking about coming from the flexi pipe to the caliper. Can you post another photo from the front ?

That looks like an abs sensor cable in the Top.
Follow that cable attached to the brake flexi to see if it is
That’s why I was asking what he is driving. If it is, it’s a hell of a cable going to it. I’ve not seen a set up like that either, but mine is an 89 90

I just need to get my head round how a sensor in a lateral moving swivel pin picks up a rotating ABS set up 🤔 Or am I putting too much thought into this ??
The ball don’t move. The cv part inside the ball does the bending. The abs ring is on the half that turns with the wheel, so the ring that the abs sensor picks up . The relationship between the 2 doesn’t change as the abs sensor is in the pin.

Basic explanation but may help you get your head round it.

This will be my YouTube entertainment for this evening. Britanica Restorations will be my first port of call 😁

I have just edited as I fibbed a bit in the last bit. :vb-weyes:.

Just look for an abs cv bet you would see it then:).

Here’s simples….
You know your CV… it has a notched ring around it. Detects the wheel spin
The sensor is drilled into a hole in the carrier that goes to the CV.
No sensor & the grease will come out,
You can use the ABS carrier on standard motors just fill the hole in

I’m a fountin of knowlage sometimes

Edit
(And I should read other post to save the double explanation)

One of these. Every day’s a school day eh

No this is wrong. That is the ABS sensor that senses the wheel movement. In the rear this would sit horizontal to the hub itself not vertically as shown in my photo. For the Front from my memory when doing my brakes it was the same as the back but could be wrong.

As per your last post for my comment, do not judge people when they are in seek of help and support.
People who judge people who do not know better really grinds my gears. No pun intended. lol

Your memory is wrong ;).

Front ABS is what you have it points down on the cv that has a segmented edge directly under (through the pin)
Can you spot the difference here.

The rears do point as you say because they pick up on a serated ring in the back of the disc.

I remember now when putting back my rotor + assembly for the rear I forgot this ring. Instantly triggered abs after just creeping. Was so confused until I realized the mistake.

I thought this happened to my front. Thanks for clarifying.

Well, this answers my question. Now I know to handle with care when removing this.

What do you use to lube your Swivel? if not the one shot grease, what would use? I do a mix of 20% Diff Oil and 70% Grease but not as runny as one shot grease

Thanks again!
