I recently put a stainless steel de-cat pipe in my 300tdi.
I noticed a nice improvement in how she runs, lots smoother IMO.

My muffler now has a small hole and is quite rusty, so I am thinking of putting a straight pipe in and getting rid of the muffler all together. No motorways here so I dont think the extra noise will be too bad?:D

Do they sell a stainless steel de-muffler pipe for a 300tdi D90?

Thanks.

I was going to take out my cat and put a td5 back box on , was wondering how much louder are they with straight through pipe on? also dose it make much difference to performance?

I put a straight through midpipe on my TD5 and it didn't really make it any louder, just purrs at the back end a bit more now. Went a bit faster too

I've just done mine on the 110 200TDI. I also took intercooler out and gave it a good de-gunking (1st time in 22 years! )There is a definite increase in performance and my neighbour said she heard me leave at 04.00 the other morning so it must be a wee bit louder as well.
Landrover tell me they don't stock the original exhausts for the 200 TDI anymore and the 'pattern' ones were lasting about a year.

Does a straight through affect the mot at all?

Yes and no, it depends on the tester, any increase in noise levels above that of a standard system is technically a failure but its down to the testers opinion...

Got the pipe installed.

Its way louder and very obnoxious and nasty sounding.

I love it!
