All pre 2002 Disco td5s came from the factory without a cat. Its purely an emissions device and has no other effect on the car. There are endless posts on de catting the td5 and all the mot discussions.
By now, most Td5 cats will have broken and burned up and likely have limited effect on emissions.
 
It is very good with 2 strokes. And get the resonance going it really boosts the power.

I got roughly 3bhp from a bike with a bit of porting and an expansion pipe, was 100cc but I could beat quick 125s
I think we have had this conv before and yes, when that guy got it right on his racing machine he wiped the floor with the competition, years ago.
But we is talking 4 strokers here!
 
Did mine 2 weeks ago... only pain was getting the soddin crossmember off... the exhaust is very easy to change.
When I did mine, I never had to get any cross member off. but then all I did was replace the middle box with straight pipe as I had no cat, so maybe we is talkin at cross porpoises!
