hi. i have a 01 td5. on top of the dash in the middle is a black gismo which is a daylight sensor. i think it is to do with the climate control. anybody know what it does .and why?.
 
It is used in the Air Con system -
This was in the Manual

The sunlight sensor consists of two diodes that provide the ATC ECU with inputs of light intensity, one as sensed coming from the left of the vehicle and one as sensed coming from the right. The inputs are used as a measure of the solar heating effect on vehicle occupants. The sensor is installed in the centre of the fascia upper surface.
 
I thought it was there so a voice would come out from under the dashboard and say "put yer lights on you tosser, it's dark ..." :eek:)
