Well it would make it more attractive to those who like that sort of thing........................ while hopefully not putting off the grownups.................................

I'd say you'd be better off spending the cost of a "dateless" plate, about £200 iirc on getting the vehicle into a saleable condition. Changing the plate does not change the DVLA published details listed as "Date of first registration" and in the row below that is the "Date of manufacture".
All-in-all it would be a pointless exercise IMHO.

Tell me..would a dateless plate add value to my L registered Defender 300tdi?

No.

You'd be better doing those little things, like a full service all oils changed etc, with receipts. A Landrovers price is down to condition, not mileage or age ...

when you say dateless plate do you mean cherished number?

I have them on some cars so no one knows how old they are :D

the valuations on those are dubious to say the least too, all depends if anyone wants to buy it. I had an xj plate on a jag years ago, still have the plate now on the doris' run around, gave up trying to sell it for anything like reg transfers said it was worth after the jag went to the scrapyard in the sky

A budget dateless plate is usually a transferred northern Irish reg; three letters followed by three or four numbers usually containing a letter not used on GB regs
Eg. Hix 4453
Worth next to nowt.

On radio 2 I heard of a guy with 2 cars on his drive in london. Regs were 2B and NOT 2B.
Generally the shorter they are, the more they cost, but if they came up for sale together at the right auction, they'd make an absolute fortune

I remember his and her Range Rover's where one reg was DAV1S, the other was DAV15 and they were both the same colour. Bet Geoff Hoon wished he had them!

Yet basically - it's all just a bit sad - what actually is the point? Around here is the plate................ "360" that's it, no letters, just 360 - if it is of pertinent relevance to the owner why share it with the rest of us? Just strange human behaviour really, basically saying "I've got more money than you"

I've got a dateless plate on my Defender, I just like it so whether it adds value is of no meaning at all. If I sell the Defender I'd take the plate off anyway.
