I posted this in the Discovery forum, but everyone there seems to have a TD5 ;)

I've got a D2 with the Thor 4.0 Very nice engine, pulls like a train, and the economy isn't bad (17.9mpg, almost exclusively long motorway runs).

I've just found out that RPi Engineering sell a remap, from Mark Adams, which claims to fill in a torque gap at 3000rpm (and help the engine run cooler), and also improve economy by a minimum of 10%. Has anyone done this upgrade? Worth it? What does it do to the emissions (I'm in Switzerland, so that's quite important!)

TIA,
Thomas

Rpi are good at selling stuff and there claims are greatly exagarated, while some info on there site is good a lot is just scare mongering ,a few years ago when I had my p38 4.6 I bought the mark Adams chips from them expensive and tbh didn't make much difference tbh, but the just my opinion.

You've already seen my comments on RPI on the other section, the only people I know who tried to sell a set of V8 main bearing CAPS on ebay, and they were used ones as well!

Can't find a long enough bargepole....

Perhaps I should clarify that RPi don't do the remap, Mark Adams from Tornado Systems does the actual work - RPi just sell it.

Much as I like the banter, can we keep this topic reasonably on-topic? :)

Whether the Thor is puny or not, I'm not changing it. Just trying to determine if this mod is worth it. To which the answer, so far, seems to be "no".

shut up doc!! lol did you not read switzenaziland

no not worth the 600 or so pounds...

yes emmisions will be altered..must be as running more fuel...

if you after more power etc...personally considering you in nazi switzerland (when it comes to cars) i would go aftermarket ecu running twin maps..ie one for your mot (equiv) and one for everyother day..and would cost the same to..ie megasquirt 3x or similar..

Agreed.... Went to them once, they said my engine had cracked block and wouldn't last more than a few hundred miles, sold me an overpriced MAF & said that was part of the problem.. 4 years & 30k later I had it rebuilt when it did blow the head on no 1, not by them but by someone who knows RV8's..
