Hi

Funny enough just got a dashcam, nextbase 512 GW, bought the hardwire kit and intend to install it myself

Got that one as it has Bluetooth so easy to download the videos via my iPad

Will run it off my aux battery via a separate 4 x way fuse box so when it’s parked up doesn’t take any power from my main battery

Haven’t decided yet is it’s worth linking in a rear camera as well

is it easy to install the hardwire kit?

how much you got it for mate?

Wired direct into ignition live with a 12v to 5v transformer. Same one as Neily

Auto records on start up and records constantly until the card is full, then any non protected files it writes over them

I found I had to turn the G sensor off though as it was set off constantly from just being in a landy!

was it easy to wire it up?

Also got 2 x 32 gb class 10 memory cards, thought it better to at least have a spare card

don’t know how much video u can get on them though

Still pondering where to locate the dashcam, so it’s not obtrusive , see many locate it by the side of the rear view mirror

Will be pics next of the dashcams in situ , lol

which dashcam you got mate?

I use an app called CamOnRoad, this uses the iPhone as a dash cam. I don’t use it everyday for my local journeys, but do for anything that might involve a few miles. It’s handy because I use the phone as a sat nav too, so it avoids too much clutter on the screen/dash.
is it available on android and is it a free app?

Hi

Will be a little more complicated as I won’t be installing it straight off the interior fuse box , or cig lighter

Ran some 33 amp wires already from my aux battery to my upper glove box, got to then install a new fuse box into the glove box, will then run the hardwire kit from the fuse box to the dashcam

Parents treated me to the dashcam , think there around £120 , am looking at around at some of the D4 rear view mirrors as they have a high beam assist sensor on the back of there mirrors , so toying of the idea to remove the sensor and mounting the dashcam there

for those of you who use dashcams, did you get it professionally installed or do you just connect it to the charger (cigarette lighter charger) with all the wires out and about?

I was given a Nextbase as a present & hard wired it in myself using an ignition live found under the dash of my RRC (not wanting to interfere with the fuse box) If you use the cigarette socket on older vehicles you'll find that the dashcam supplied plug is a very loose fit, obviously specs. have changed over the years.
Halfrauds charge £30 to do the job (plus the HW kit) & you need to pre-book the work.

You must have a very rare iPad or dash cam 512 to be able them to communicate via Bluetooth, standard Nextbase communication protocol is WiFi. Not Bluetooth.
Transferring files from the camera to an iPad is painfully slow, as u know, if there’s two files for each recording when recording in HD1440 resolution, quicker to remove the card and copy it to a computer.

I’ve been playing around with dash cams for the last five years or so, I’ve had a few of the eBay versions, but either the battery has failed or they corrupt the memory card so I finally purchase my sixth camera a Nextbase 412 last year for the disco and it works very well and importantly without any issues what ever card I’ve used (remembering that some cards don’t handle repeated film re-recording therefore no manufacturers will give a warranty if used in a dash cams.
Hopefully I’m on to a winner as went I purchased two more for both my car and wife’s car they use the accessory socket with the power supply included in the box although the wiring goes up behind the A pillar covers to the camera.

A 16Gb card can hold 2 hours or there about of recording depending on the resolution.

Personally wouldn't have one, each to their own.

Surprised some people can actually have a clear view out the windscreen they have so much **** in front of them.
