I was just wondering if any of you know how to repair plastic panels from scratch's etc please

are there repair kits or is it better left to a professional company.

Have a few scratches on the dashboard that was there when i bought the car and would really like to get rid of them but dont want to make it worse.

thanks as always

i once had a repair done on a rav4 dash by a small company in plymouth near perfect.you can get a dash repair kit from halfords [dont waist your money] stick with a professional.

I agree. A professional will do a job that makes the scratches invisible to the naked eye, a DIY job is likey to be noticable.
My wife wanted the holes & associated marks removing on the soft part of the dash in her Saab (made by someone fitting a hands-free kit). The professional did a job that wasn't only invisible to the unknowing but even if you knew where the holes had been they were impossible to spot yet the surface was just as soft as the rest of the dash. Top job and well worth the money.

thanks guys, thats what i thought to leave it to a professional

i will try and find one round my neck of the woods

as always thanks guys

I used to work on a production line 'oop North', where they built Nissans of various shapes and sizes, and the occasional piece of scratched plastic was inevitable (considering the cars went down the line faster than most of them are driven on the road), and these scratches were repaired by 3 methods. For light scratches, rubbing the area with a piece of plastic the same colour used to work. If the scratch was a bit deeper, a hot air gun was used, with a nozzle about 3 or 4mm diameter, which was used in a circular motion over the scratch, and they would magically fade. The 3rd way was to just replace the panel, but I guess that's not an option here.
