In the on going saga of my windscreen wiper motor, I’ve had to strip out the dash as parts of the electrical harness need rewiring. Was pleasantly surprised to discover dust on the bulkhead and no sign of rust. I wondered about hammeriting it or some other method of rust prevention and if there were any other useful jobs that could be done before it all goes back in?

Not hammerite. It's too hard, cracks when the vehicle flexes and lets water in. Results in hidden corrosion.

For non visible parts use a wax preservative. Dinitrol or Bilt Hambler Dynax S50 is good.
