i'm just amazed that they can even cost that much! if anyone has anything second hand i may be interested if its in the £15 max price range.

the big issue on ebay is sifting through the tacky chinese/HK crap to find anything decent.
it is weird.............. a mechanical gauge [oil or temp] is cheaper................ I might have on available soon, don't hold your breath - really busy

I have boat clock in mine. Kus or kup. Only a cheap chineese one though. Probably made in the same factory as the defender one.

Try looking up boat gauges.

There is a company called veethree that do them. They look almost identical to the vdo range. They may even be made In the same factory.
Cheaper than vdo too.

For my project I bought this 1940's aircraft clock from eBay for about £20. The movement is beyond repair so I'm putting a £1.50 quartz movement into it.

I fitted a gen smiths clock to match my smiths oil press gauge and Smyths volt meter...they come with black or chrome outer bazzel.

Prob is they are around £50....but are nice.

Look around in a scrappy. Volvo used to fit a 52mm/2" clock in the old 240 series as did several other manufacturers.

Thanks chaps - wait until you see the rest of the dashboard!

ps. Coincidentally the clock movement arrived this morning, wrong diameter shafts for the original, damn it. Need to find someone who knows about different standards.
