I've several bulbs within the dashboard and heater control unit that don't illuminate at night. The bulb that illuminates the fuel gauge has probably blown but I'm not sure about the heater control unit. All I have on that is the LCD panel; everything else is dark. Do I need to get another unit or can I just replace the bulbs?

I have a blown dash light (speedo et al) as well. Interested in knowing the answer to this, and if anyone also knows, just how much of a cast-iron sod is it to get in there and do the job?

Just replace the bulbs - part numbers

Easy, prise off the speedo trim after removing the two screws at the rear of the steering wheel, just turn the steering wheel to gain access the lift from the bottom and push toward the windscreen. Speedo is held in with 4 screws, undo and remove, unplug the multiplugs and you will see the 3 bulbs

Cheers for that; I've just done it and as you say "Easy!" Just need to buy some bulbs now and I might as well replace the others too.

Thanks for that :) I'll get a chance to do that later this week (hopefully the weather will have cleared up a bit by then!)

Because the bulbs have a green plastic cover on them, they are (depending upon P & P) anywhere between £6.50 and £8 each! I've peeled the green off and I'll nip to to motor factors on Monday!

Next job is to take the aircon controls off but to do that, I need to remove the radio and I haven't got the special tools to release the clips! Sigh! It's always a challenge...

You can use the same bulb that is in the marker of the front indicator. just pull the old one out the holder and slip the green 'johnny' on

You can use T10 W5W LEDs instead of those bulbs, they are cheap, you can find any colour and they'll last more than the whole vehicle
