Hi all
Oil light comes on, seat belt warning flashes and buzzes and low washer fluid warning after switch off.
Can stop seat belt warning by plugging in passenger seat belt but oil light stays on. Oil and washer levels are fine..
Earthing problem?
Great full for any ideas

After switch off? Check the battery voltage.

So battery volts running with oil light on and low washer warning is 14.
12 after switch off

cheers

hi

u should be seeing with the engine off around 12.6 Vdc and indeed around 14,5 Vdc with the engine running

May i ask have u just got the landy and if so whats the service history plse , with that low oil light coming on wouldn’t be driving it until the problem is found , plus have u had any kind of diagnostic reader plse, if not one needs plugging in

Battery needs to be charged overnight , then unplugged and rechecked after a few hours to see what the Vdc are without starting the engine , alas a bad battery can cause havoc to these electrical systems, but of course the oil light coming on is the most concerning

Owned about 4 years 90k miles
Service every year only do about 7k a year
Oil level is good
Have done reader in the past not for this problem yet tho

The voltages do not sound healthy, 14.7 running and 12.8 immediately after switch of dropping to about 12.6 after an hour or so.
Bad connection or failed diode in the alternator would be my guess.

many thks, as a side note have u ensured that u have the updated oil pump with the reinforced casing please

low water issue can just be a new bottle as that’s a known issue

indeed first thing I would do is plug ur code reader in, then charge the battery overnight

Plus 1 what @Datatek mentions with regards to the alternator , will be interesting to see what codes come up

hope that helps

Hi mate

indeed also thought about an alternator, heard sometimes it can spike the instrument cluster causing untold issues , even going over 16Vdc

Must admit haven’t seen it causing the oil light coming on , but there’s also a well known report of the connectors on the back of the instrument cluster causing issues

hopefully a fully charged battery and the codes will give more detail

ps, hope ur good

All well here thanks, hope all is well with you now.

New alternator bout 3 years ago
Heard stories of earth connections going bad.
Dash connection is a sound idea
Think I’ll go get it scanned and see what it says. Will let you know
Cheers guys

Do u know if it was a denso alternator plse , plus regardless of age best to get it tested

have u tried , multimeter set to Vac , engine running , test probe on each battery post and see what the Vac are please , should ideally read OVac , or be below 0.5 volts , that’s only a very basic test for the diode

indeed ref the earths, there’s also a big earth on the drivers side behind the inner plastic wheel arch liner , another one as I look down on ur drivers side behind the headlight , plus a multimeter will be handy to test the earths

indeed ref the instrument panel, battery disconnected , sometimes removing the connectors then spraying with contact cleaner along with checking the pins has done the job, alas there’s been other occasions where the instrument panel has required to be sent away for repair , but no point going down that road until the battery is 100% ok and alternator tested , plus the codes

indeed Plse let us know what the scan reports back

hope it helps

I can confirm that my previous 2005 L322 suffered a Christmas Tree of lights on the dash when the Engine to Chassis Earth Strap connections corroded, well worth taking off and checking, at that age it’s almost bang on time.
Tricky :)

So had scan done.
Code B1A80 came up with some others Cleared memory
Tech said if happens again bring it back and leave running for retest.
Took it back after a five mile run and the B1A80 engine oil pressure, signal plausiblity not ok. This was only code after reset. Going to try new oil pressure switch next week as a first move

To eliminate the possibility I'd change the earth lead as advised, they don't last forever.;)
