Dash board info and HVAC display illumination gone :) This is my original post but I think I put it in the wrong place so I've re posted on here which I believe will serve better.
Just got a problem with 1998 P38 2.5 DSE, which started when 2 of the bulbs illuminating the odometer appeared to have blown. I removed the speedo pod and replaced the three bulbs. :confused:Didn't disconnect battery first as perhaps I should have. After reconnecting the two sockets, bulbs did not illuminate, checked them and swapped them with indicator and main beam bulbs. Info panel still didn't light up but indicators etc did work, so bulbs OK. Now the back lighting on the HVAC panel isn't working either. No fuses blown. Anyone any ideas please, and layman's terms if possible I'm not too technical

Problem now solved by local auto electrician.
He removed speedometer pod and on examination found a transistor blown to "smitherines", think that's a word, anyway too badly damaged to be able to identify any markings. Bought a second hand speedo unit from Emmets for £20 and he's pinched the relevant part from it and replaced it in my original unit and hey presto it's all working again HEVAC unit as well. Total £60, which is a pricey bulb change but pretty reasonable by today's standards.

Well done that man, and £60 sounds very good value, good job you didnt put other speedo in would have buggerd up your oddometer reading.
