So....

I re-built the windscreen wiper system about 5 years ago. the main drive pin inside one of the 'wheel-boxes' broke free from the drive cog. I managed to weld it back together (in the back end of mongolia) and bodge it into place.

This was 2 years ago. The other wheel box 'shaft / cog' join went yesterday. I'm fed up of the windscreen wipers being crap so i'm going to re-build again. The last time i bought brit part, not this time.

Can anyone recommend a reliable make? I'm going to do both wheel boxes, the 'chain' and the tubes for the drive chain.

I thought the reason you went to Alicante was to escape the rain? ;) For the wheel boxes Britpart ones are about £15, OEM about £20 and genuine £35. For the effort involved, genuine might be the best option? I need to do mine soon as they have a horrible clunk every swipe.

I bought bearmach wheelboxes a few years ago. I lived to regret it when I had to change them again after two years. Like yours, one of mine had disconnected internally and worn away. I wanted reliability to I bought genuine ones and a genuine rack too.

I'm in Spain, but the landy is in the UK.

I think I will take the ones that have broken and weld them, smooth them down and hopefully I will have a bullet proof pair as a back up. A full re-build on genuine parts it is then!
