Hi Folks - I was going to sell it as a partly finished kit, but having built one quite some time ago I thought I might as well finish it off - Of course nothings as simple as it looks and apart from having no wiring other than the EFI bits it had a few other hidden issues. Someone previous had: caught the auto gearbox sump seal resulting in ATF everywhere, the rear brake balancer was corroded and blocked, the thermostat housing had the thermostat edge trapped in it and a few other things! No wiring for the instruments either so I have sourced a motorbike effort for under a £100, buried some magnets in the handbrake and hopefully it will give a speed approximate to the speed of the vehicle! It does fuel level, indicator repeaters and revs as well so I might be on to a winner with that. After a bit of fannying about the engine runs with twin exhausts out each side and it sounds awesome, it has a massive 32" LED light bar on the front and it should be ready to go outside and see if it goes ok soon! By the way it's based on a 1992 Classic 3.9EFI with a 4 speed auto - should go well with 32" tyres!

Hope to go to Le Mans in it this June - Should be laugh!

Here are a few of what it looked like when it came to me:

See my gallery, a workmate has one.

Looks nice - have you got any more details on it?

Currently thinking of a cunning plan on how to keep the bulkhead area in the engine bay even slightly dry as it's open to the elements.

Thanks for the interest I'll put up some more photos when it hits the fresh air.

P reg Discovery 1 Auto TDi300 picked up by a loader by squeezing the body as it was blocking a gateway, been a Dakar longer than a Disco.

I will have to see what the test URL is for the in development website

It's road legal and on the road now - Still looking for a bit more performance, once I connected up the road speed sensor that helped but it feels like it should have a bit more!

Following a last minute cancellation by one of my mates I decided to take the Dakar to Le Mans despite only having around 250 miles on the clock - it went fine!

Have they started making them again?

All of the trim apart from the top of the dash had disappeared before I came into ownership of mine so if anyone has any '92ish hard dash interior going let me know!

Built quite a long time ago from a loader squashed TDI300 Discovery

They are back in production

Yes we had an Audi RS6, a Maserati Ghibli (diesel) and a RR Sport special edition with 500+ HP - guess which one got all the attention!

I even got invited to a Supercar event in Torquay in August with the Dakar, when I questioned him about it's supercar status he said it was rarer and more interesting :)

It was a lot of fun and despite dodgy weather forecasts we had the roof down there and back.

Drove past lots of coppers 7 up (slowly)
