For years I kept my D2 and my 110 before that in the garage only to be used at the weekends.
After having my new car scratched in the works carpark (door to door, formed small dent as well) less than 3 months after buying it, I have for the past 3 weeks been using the D2 back and to for work whilst my new car sits in the garage at home following its repair.
OK I've done many jobs on the D2 since its purchase; springs and shock absorbers, cylinder head gasket and dowels, steering box, battery and chassis restore and waxoyling; but the D2 drives brilliant, starts every morning and isn't drinking fuel (though 1/3rd of a tank on the gauge may be more money than my new car certainly).
Point is, having pampered the D2 and fixed the LR failures, its a damn good vehicle and a brilliant and reliable daily runner; it doesn't even take too long on these cold mornings to get the heater up to temperature. The best thing is its fun to drive to and from work and I worry far less about the carpark dangers.
Big dilema now, dont want to get the new car scratched again but if i'm not using it whats the point of having it?
I normally tinker with my LR most weekends and having a main vehicle means I don't have to finish the jobs for monday morning. I'd like to drop the sump and check/upgrade the oil pump bolt so I will need to have the main car available whilst I do it.
Do I continue to use the D2 as a daily runner and keep the new car for best?
Do I just accept that scratches happen and run the new car until it dies and continue to pamper the D2?
