My D3 battery is getting past its best I decided to fit another.
Problem with wifes car meant buying her a new 019 Yuasa silver top from Halfords, now after charging her old one Im not totally convinced it was the issue (seems Audi as power hungry as the disco), so I thought hey its free so why not? I was always under the impression 017TE was smaller than the 019, turns out they are the exact same size and the 019 fits a treat best of all 019 common as muck and much cheaper to boot.

Yuasa sliver top has 5 yrs warranty and best of all being Halfords theres one close to most people so if you have an issue its a quick trip to sort out.
They also do a Black version with I think lifetime warranty.

that’s interesting to know , ive always like the varta batteries but have heard the yuassa get good reviews

wonder if the 019 lasts longer , what’s the main difference plse , , has the 019 got more plates

Main difference seems to be 50 quid!

I'm off to buy the same silver Yusa one myself as my Disco battery is dying.

I have stopped buying yuasa batts for Agric kit, they just don’t last, they tend to give up either side of warranty period

don’t know what the consensus is with varta , useto have them on other landies so don’t know how they would stand up on the D3 s

that’s a good price , see the exide have come down from 150 to 98

About time robbing bar stewards.
Charged the removed 017te, charger said done after only 6 hrs which made me suspicious straight away.
Voltage measured at 12.5v which isnt enough from a fully charged battery.
Left to stand for a few hours up to 12.72v eat humble pie time for me!
24 hrs later 12.72v still damn.
48 hrs later 12.32v yes I was right:D

On the other side the 019 is working well on the D3 and after a 5 mile trip then a stop then start and 2 miles then engine idling for 15 minutes the dash voltage was showing 14.2v whereas normally it was at 15.1 pretty much all the time and only dropped on long journeys, so its obviously been going wrong for some time.
See how it gets on with my regular short commute.

Time will tell but the Yuasa ones from Halfords are 5 year warranty and if you get 5yrs out of a D3/4 battery I think you are doing well.

That’s an improvement , tractors usually two years, commercial three years, I found they would only do two winters

We have the same issue with scania truck batteries 2 years is almost their limit, now the Daf maintenance free ones actually seem to last well and they are also used for tail lift work so get plenty of exercise.
